Packing is not a particular strong point of mine even at 20, cue mom. I’ve got everything I would every need, along with everything I know I won’t need but am going to take anyway. The freezing New York forecast means I’ve got a suitcase full of coats, jumpers, boots and hats, and the one fashion conscious outfit for out theatre trip; yes Roxie Hart we’re coming for you! I’m layered up for the plane, bobble hat on head, just to make sure my case is that little bit lighter. My hand luggage consists of every critical piece of paperwork I could need, including an itinerary and my dad’s scrawled list of New York sights.

I’ve never been on a long flight before; despite my brave face I am terrified. After a turbulent half an hour I began to realise I’m living the life of luxury for the next eight hours – ample films at my disposal and food and drink almost every hour. However this didn’t stop me taking a good hours sleep to set myself up for the next five days.
